AIDS Walk Portland: Each year Camp Odyssey organizes a team, raises money, and walks in support of this important cause. Join our team at: aidswalkportland.org / team name: Camp Odyssey. The walk is Saturday, September 12th in downtown Portland.
Oregon Youth Listening Post: At camp and throughout the year, we spend a lot of learning how to use our voices and experiences to bring about social change. We also discuss who is often excluded from community conversations as well as media coverage.
The Piece is partnering with OPB on a project called Oregon Youth Listening Post. It’s a chance to break down silos and create dialogue and connections between journalists, youth and community members, and YOU get to drive the agenda.
It starts with filling out this brief survey from OPB – What can communities learn from Oregon youth? – and sharing it with as many other young people around the state as possible.
All responses are private and will only read by a small circle of journalists who will identify topics for a community engagement workshop Oct. 1 in Portland, and some of you will be invited to participate in that conference!
Past and Present Dinner: On October 17th (6pm-8pm) a series of dinners will be hosted across the state that bring different Odyssey alumni and supporters together to eat, meet, and share camp stories. Find one happening in your area, or host one if you like! Contact [email protected] for more information and to RSVP.
Odyssey’s 25th Anniversary Celebration: This year marks Camp Odyssey’s 25th birthday! To celebrate this momentous occasion, The Piece will be hosting a social gathering of ALL alumni and supporters for a special evening together! Please join us to commemorate the life-changing impact Odyssey has had, and continues to have, on so many people.
